Bright and early on a snowy Saturday morning, I met up with Samantha and Samuel at the Sample Gates at Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana for their engagement session. I met these two a few months ago when we met up for coffee to discuss working together for their wedding day. When I heard their engagement story, I knew that these two were perfect for each other, and that I was so excited to get to work with them.
During our chat, they had mentioned that they really wanted to do a winter engagement session. Snowy backdrops are beautiful and romantic, so I thought that was a perfect idea. The tricky part with snowy engagement sessions are that you are at the mercy of the weather! Fast forward about two months, and it was going to be a perfectly wintery day on a Martin Luther King Jr. Day, so Samantha & I had planned to do our shoot on that day. However, when the time came, it was snowing a bit too much and we were concerned about traveling in that weather. So we decided to move the session to the following Saturday, and just kept our fingers crossed that the snow wouldn’t melt!
Engagement session day was approaching, and I was making sure to keep track of the weather. It turns out that it was going to be warm on that day, so I had the idea of doing a sunrise engagement session, because it was still going to be cold so that the snow wouldn’t melt, so this is what we did.
Meeting up with them at the Sample Gates, they looked absolutely perfect and I couldn’t wait to get started shooting. It was so much fun working with them, and the session just flew right by.
Sam & Sam, I had a wonderful time with you both, and this makes me even MORE excited for your wedding day. May 12 will be here sooner than we know it, and it’s going to be the most beautiful day.
